What’s in every issue

Everything inside, in about five minutes.

What I’m Seeing This Week

One real situation from the past two weeks and what it teaches: a flooded basement traced to an $8 gutter guard, a county record that hid a garage, what a cash offer takes out of a deal.

The Tuesday Tour

A new YouTube home tour every week, unhurried. I open panels and walk foundations, and I tell you what the listing doesn’t.

Market at a Glance

Rates, inventory, sales and median price for the metro, with what it means for buyers and sellers. I pull the numbers from our MLS myself.

Family Corner and Behind the Scenes

A little of life beyond real estate, because what happens at home shapes how I show up for you.

Common questions

About the newsletter.

How often does the newsletter come out?

Every other Wednesday. It has gone out on that schedule since November 2025.

What does it cost?

Nothing. It’s free, and you can unsubscribe anytime with one click.

Who writes it?

I do. Jason Huffey, REALTOR with RE/MAX Revolution in the Des Moines metro. When you reply, I’m the one who reads it.

Is it only for people buying or selling right now?

No. Most readers are homeowners who aren’t moving anytime soon. It covers what’s happening in the metro, how to take care of your house and how to make good decisions when the time comes.

Where do the market numbers come from?

I pull them from the Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS MLS myself, and mortgage rates from Freddie Mac’s weekly survey. Sources and dates are listed in every issue.
